Leeds United have made an encouraging start to their second season under Marcelo Bielsa.

The Whites have taken four points from their opening two games in the Championship and are safley through to the second round of the Carabao Cup.

It has been a busy summer at Elland Road, with several new players joining the club and a few high-profile departures as well.

One of the new signings who has made a big impression so far is defender Ben White, with the 21-year-old joining on a season-long loan from Brighton.

The centre-back has played every minute of the campaign for Leeds so far, impressing in all three matches.

In the latest FLW Six Pointer, we discuss White's start to life at Leeds in more detail...

First of all, what do you make of White so far? Can you see him being a good signing for Leeds?

"I've been very, very impressed by what I've seen from White in a Leeds shirt so far. I think he's got what it takes to be a fantastic signing on loan.

"Despite the fact he's never played at this level before, he seems to have had to problem adjusting to the physical demands of the Championship. He looks totally comfortable at the back and has formed a very good partnership with Liam Cooper.

"He's very good on the ball and is comfortable playing out from the back. He's also good in the air and is not afraid to get stuck in, which will be very important in a league as a physical as the Championship.

"He could have a very important role to play for the Whites this season."

Are you surprised at how well he's settled into the team?

"A bit, yes - if I'm honest. I saw White play on several occasions for Peterborough last season and was very impressed with his ability on the ball.

"He looked like he had the potential to play at a higher level, but I really didn't expect him to settle in so quickly at Leeds - especially when you consider his lack of experience at this level.

"He's shown fantastic maturity and doesn't seem at all affected by the pressure of playing for arguably the biggest club in the Championship.

"It's hard to believe that he's never played at this level before and I think he's the sort of player that will continue to improve with experience."

How many games do you expect White to play for Leeds this season?

"If White continues to play like he has been for Leeds, I can't see him losing his place in the team - unless of course he gets injured or suspended.

"I know we're only three games into the new season, but his performances so far this have been very impressive.

"He will continue to improve with more experience and I can't see the likes of Gaetano Berardi getting into the team ahead of him at the moment.

"White is also comfortable playing in a back three too, so he's a very useful option for Marcelo Bielsa to have in his squad."

Do you think he could be a good replacement for Pontus Jansson?

"Marcelo Bielsa referred to Pontus Jansson as Leeds' best player in the Championship last season and it was always going to be difficult for the club to replace him.

"Not only was he an extremely important player on the pitch, but he was a big character in the dressing room too.

"With that said, I've been really impressed with what I've seen from White for Leeds so far and I think he's capable of stepping into the void created by Jansson's departure.

"He might not be as much of a physical presence on the pitch, but he's certainly not afraid to get stuck. He's very comfortable on the ball and has formed a great partnership with Liam Cooper at centre-back.

"The only issue is of course that White is only on loan from Brighton and will be returning to his parent club at the end of the season, so Leeds will still need to find a long-term replacement for Jansson in that sense."

If he's such a good player, why did Brighton allow him to leave?

"I think that's simple. There's no doubt that White has the potential to be a top player, but there was no way he was going to get a chance for Brighton this season given his lack of experience at the top level.

"There was no way he was going to get a chance at Brighton ahead of the likes of Lewis Dunk, Shane Duffy or Adam Webster.

"Brighton signed a very good central defender in Matt Clarke from Portsmouth this summer and sent him straight out on loan to Derby, so that shows just how difficult it would have been for White to force his way into the team at the Amex Stadium.

"Sending him out on loan will allow him to gain some invaluable experience in the Championship and he will be able to learn so much from working under a fantastic coach in Marcelo Bielsa."

Should Leeds try to sign him on a permanent deal?

"We're only three games into the new season, so it's important not to get too carried away. With that said, White has been outstanding for Leeds so far and he looks like he's got what it takes to become a top player.

"It's difficult to see him getting much of a chance at Brighton in the near future, so there's every chance that he could be tempted by a permanent move to Elland Road.

"I'm sure Brighton will want to keep hold of him, but if there's a chance that Leeds can sign him on a permanent deal, they have to go for it - based on his form so far."
