West Brom players will be licking their wounds following the heartbreak of a Championship play-off semi final defeat on penalties, against local rivals Aston Villa on Tuesday night.

For the players it was the final throes in what has been a difficult end to the season, following the sacking of manager Darren Moore prior to the run-in, and with no permanent manager yet in post, the future is uncertain for the current playing squad.

For players like defender Ahmed Hegazi, who has had a solid season at the heart of the Baggies defence, the uncertainty surrounding the club, could lead him to look for football elsewhere.

So do you think Hegazi will stick around at West Brom next season?

We discuss........

George Dagless

"It's tough to say.

"He's a fine defender and certainly one that would do a good job for the right club in the Premier League.

"West Brom will feel as though they can keep him but I'd not be surprised to see him linked with a move for sure."

George Brooks

"I think a lot of it will depend on who the next permanent manager is at the Hawthorns, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Hegazi remain at the club.

"Hegazi has been a very important player for West Brom in the Championship this season and has put in some excellent defensive displays.

"He will be devastated to miss out on promotion via the play-offs, so perhaps he will want to stay to try and put things right next season."

Gary Hutchinson

“Of course.

“He’s never seemed like anything other than a consummate professional.

“Unless a big offer comes in, I can’t see him going anywhere.

“He’s not one to play up and even if he did, look where it got Craig Dawson.”
