The latest transfer line coming out of Sunderland, is that Bolton Wanderers striker Gary Madine is on the radar of Chris Coleman as we approach the January window.
The Sunderland Echo reports that the tall Championship striker is being eyed up, but is it a good signing for the Black Cats?
I can’t believe what I’m reading.
Sunderland fans must be concerned at this because Madine is not a striker for firing you to Championship glory.
He’s better at League One level and Black Cats fans must be worrying what this is a sign of.
Sunderland are clearly trying to cover themselves if Lewis Grabban is recalled by Bournemouth in the New Year.
For me, Madine would be a good addition to Coleman’s squad, and even if Grabban stays put, Sunderland should push for a deal.
There is every chance Sunderland will drop out of the second-tier, and signing a player like Madine will significantly improve their chance of bouncing back next season.
It wouldn’t fill me with confidence if I was a Sunderland fan.
The striker has done reasonably well with Bolton this season, but he hasn’t convinced he belongs at this level over the years.
You wouldn’t want him to be the man to replace Lewis Grabban, that’s for sure!
