Celtic are looking to sign striker Jordan Rhodes on loan from Sheffield Wednesday to bolster their push for a fourth treble and a Europa League run, according to the Scottish Sun.

The forward is high on the Neil Lennon's Celtic wish-list for a potential move north of the border, even though the 29-year-old has only netted three times in nine appearances, with all his goals coming in last weekend's 4-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

So would Rhodes be a good signing for Celtic and what are the chances of the Owls letting him leave?

We discuss.........

Louie Chandler

"I cannot see this happening, especially in January.

"Rhodes has returned to form impressively in recent weeks, out of nowhere really, so it would be a real shock for Monk to offload in January.

"His hat-trick against Nottingham Forest and a solid showing against Bristol City shows he still has plenty to offer at this level.

"In summer, Celtic may have a lot more joy. But I cannot see it happening in January."

Ned Holmes

"I can't see Wednesday letting Rhodes leave in January.

"Outside Steven Fletcher, the Owls strikers have failed to fire this season and after his hat-trick against Forest, Rhodes has certainly been the best of a bad bunch.

"Garry Monk needs some support for Fletcher, so letting Rhodes go would be a huge mistake for me and not something that I think Wednesday will risk, given that they're competing for the play-offs.

"If Celtic could get the deal done, it's certainly a move that I could see working–Rhodes' record is proof that he has the ability, it just hasn't quite worked at Hillsborough recently."

Chris Thorpe

"After his hat trick against Nottingham Forest, I feel that this is a deal that is perhaps less likely to happen, as Garry Monk may be keen to see more from the Scotsman before deciding on the player's long-term future.

"He would in theory be a good signing for Celtic, however it is fair to say that they are well stocked up top, with the likes of Edouard and Griffiths likely to still head up the pecking order under Neil Lennon.

"Rhodes would surely represent a low cost option for a club of Celtic's stature, which could in theory make a move of this guise more of a possibility than a permanent deal.

"It remains to be seen if Rhodes will indeed be on the move, but I would say he is more likely to stay put due to the fact that Wednesday would be left short up top if he were to leave in January."
