Football League World's West Brom fan pundit Sarah Rudge has revealed who she wants to see offered a new deal at the club next after it emerged that they were in discussions over a new deal for Nathan Ferguson.

The Express and Star reported that negotiations had begun between the 18-year-old and the club and after that is completed, Rudge wants to see attentions turn to an older statesman.

"Most of our new additions are on long-term deals but it would be good if we can get Gareth Barry tied to a contract once he is over his injury troubles and has proven his fitness,"

"Slaven Bilic has already stated that he wants to reintegrate Barry and this would be a shrewd acquisition in my opinion.

"He has an abundance of experience and although he wouldn’t start every week, should we be leading the game, I can think of nobody better in the centre of the park to retain the ball and keep possession."

Barry made the move to West Brom from Everton back in the summer of 2017 and has gone on to make 55 appearances for the Baggies.

Although currently continuing to train with the club, however, he is not under contract although it looks likely that he will agree terms on a new deal once he is back to full fitness.

He played 24 times in the second tier as West Brom made their way to the play-off semi-finals, scoring once and assisting one more in the process.

Under Slaven Bilic, the club have made an impressive start to the season, currently sat in fourth place with eight matches played and remain the only unbeaten team in the division.
