Aston Villa loanee James Bree is determined to impress whilst on-loan at Ipswich Town with a view to forcing his way into the Villa first team, when he returns to Villa Park as reported in the East Anglian Daily Times.

Bree said: "It’s just about what I can do now and hopefully I can get some good games under my belt here then go back and push for a first team spot up there.”

Bree moved to Portman Road in January on loan for the remainder of the season having made only 14 senior appearances since arriving from Barnsley in January 2017.

Discussing his progress at Villa Park with Ipswich’s official media, Bree said: “I haven’t kicked on since signing for Villa a couple of years ago as much as I’d wanted to.

“But for now, it’s all about Ipswich.”

Is he right with what he's saying about the lack of progression at Villa and will games under his belt on-loan at Ipswich get him noticed by Dean Smith?

We discuss.....

Gary Hutchinson

“Fair point.

“Few progressed under Steve Bruce at Villa.

“He wasn’t one for bringing players on, was he?

“It does burn bridges for Bree though.”

Jacob Potter

"I can see where he’s coming from.

"Villa had high hopes for Bree when he arrived, but he simply hasn’t been given a consistent run in the side, which is bound to have affected his development.

"He needs regular game time, and if he can get that at Ipswich, then he’ll go back to Aston Villa, a much better player than he previously was."

Jay Taylor

“It’s big of him to admit, but he is saying what everyone else has known for a while.

“Now is not the time to dwell on it though and consider it a problem.

“Highlighting it gives him something to work towards, an aim to bettering himself and progressing under Dean Smith.

“There is no harm in trying.”
