Several EFL sides are said to be taking a closer look at a potential loan deal to sign Tim Iroegbunam from Aston Villa, with Blackburn Rovers among those linked.

Birmingham Live has reported lately that the men from Ewood Park would like to bring him in on loan, as new manager Jon Dahl Tomasson looks to put his stamp on things.

That said, then, we asked FLW's Blackburn Rovers fan pundit Toby Wilding for his thoughts on the potential deal.

"I can see this being a good signing for Rovers.

"Obviously they've had a lot of good history in recent years in the loan market when it comes to developing Premier League players and it's an aspect of Tomasson's management that he wants to bring to Ewood Park so in that sense he does seem to fit the bill as a potential Blackburn target.

"As well as that we've seen a number of midfielders all leave on at the end of their contracts so central midfield is a positon that Blackburn need to strengthen in."

The Verdict

As Toby mentions, Blackburn have had a lot of success with bringing on young players with Harvey Elliott one recent prime example of how Rovers can help develop footballers.

Villa will think that is a good trait, too, and perhaps Blackburn will have an edge trying to sign him this summer with that in mind.
