QPR are said to be interested in signing midfielder Stefan Schwab according to a report from the Daily Mail

It is also claimed that Bristol City and Blackburn Rovers are keen on landing the 29-year-old's signature heading into the summer transfer window.

Schwab is currently with Austrian side Rapid Vienna, but is set to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of this year's campaign.

He has made 32 appearances in all competitions this term, and is reportedly keen on a move to England, which has put clubs in the Championship on red alert.

A move to QPR could be tempting for the midfielder, with the Hoops currently sat 13th in the second tier standings with five matches remaining this season.

But would Schwab be a good addition to Mark Warburton's side in the summer?

We discuss...

Sam Rourke:

I can see the logic here.

QPR could certainly do with some more depth in central midfield, and Schwab would offer an experienced option.

The 29-year-old has been a key figure for Rapid Vienna this season as they trail Salzburg in second place, and his combative style of player could add a real robustness to Mark Warburton's central midfield.

Of course, the midfielder has no experience of playing in England or the Championship, but his physical, box-to-box style of player looks like it could be adapted to the second tier in England.

To get someone on a free transfer with this much experience and international caps under their belt, it looks like a wise move, especially in the current financial climate we find ourselves in.

Alfie Burns:

It’s going to be an extremely tough summer for clubs in the Championship and, as this report states, expect to see a host of free transfers.

In terms of Schwab, he’s an experienced player and someone who could potentially be a very good addition in the Championship.

Given it’s a free transfer, the R’s will feel there’s less risk involved and that will probably push them to rival Bristol City until the wire to get this deal done.

Warburton will need reinforcements this summer, but in terms of who is available and in the club’s price-range, it’s going to be a limited window.

That makes deals like this harder to overlook.

George Harbey:

Schwab looks to be an exciting player who could be an ideal type of signing for QPR this summer.

The futures of Ebere Eze and Bright Osayi-Samuel look uncertain beyond this season, and even though they will be hard to replace, bringing in Schwab on a free transfer would be a shrewd bit of business and it would help add firepower to the midfield.

He has contributed to 16 goals this season which is a fairly decent record, and at the age of 29-years-old, he is certainly in his prime.

Finances are likely to be limited for QPR this summer, as they probably will be for every club, so it would be a coup to lure Schwab to West London for free given how well he has performed this term.
