Probably the biggest deal not to go through in the January transfer window was the move of winger Dan James from Swansea City to Leeds United.

The deal fell through after the Swans board pulled the plug at the eleventh hour, with the player waiting at Elland Road having successfully completed a medical.

According to former Leeds striker Noel Whelan, who is now a co-commentator on BBC Radio Leeds, Marcelo Bielsa's side will be back in for the 21-year-old in the summer, as reported by Football Insider.

“I think Leeds will be in for him, for sure,” Whelan said.

“I rate him highly, he is a fantastic player – amazing pace, good on the ball, mature for his age. I wish I had had half his pace. It scares defenders and James will frighten even very good ones.

So do you think Whelan is right in his claim that Leeds will be back in for James in the summer?

“I can see that happening, yes.

“It’s the Bielsa way, is it not?

“He identifies a player and then keeps at him.

“When you look at his transfer policy, it stands to reason he’ll revisit the same targets if he misses out.

“It seems to be his method.”

Jacob Potter

"They’ll surely be back in for him.

"James has looked impressive since his Deadline Day move to Leeds fell through and I would be stunned if they didn’t attempt to sign him again in the summer.

"But they will know that they face stiff competition from other sides now, with James making remarkable progress in such a short space of time."

George Harbey

"It seems almost inevitable that Leeds will go back in for Daniel James in the summer.

"There have already been reports claiming that they are preparing a bid for him, and I think have a lot of unfinished business.

"Given the calibre of teams that have been linked with his signature of late though, it would be a massive, massive coup for them to secure his services."
