Middlesbrough have signed West Ham striker Jordan Hugill on a season-long loan deal, the club have announced.

The 26-year-old has only made three substitute appearances for the Hammers since moving to London Stadium in January.

Will Hugill be able to force his way into the starting line-up? Is he a good signing for Boro?

We discuss.....

George Dagless

I can see it working.

He's a physical player that Boro can play it in to and work off of.

Tony Pulis likes this type of player and so we should see a fair bit of him.

Sam Rourke

It's a decent signing.

But, will he be a frequent starter? Especially with the array of strikers Middlesbrough have at their disposal.

Does he get in over Britt Assombalonga? Over Rudy Gestede?

He's proved at Preston he can score at this level though, and if he can replicate this form he could be a hit at the Riverside.

Gary Hutchinson

Finally, I wondered how many more articles we'd have to write about him!

He's certainly one who can influence a top six side and therefore he'll do well at Boro.

Jay Williams

This is a good short-term solution up front for Middlesbrough and he is a local lad so he understands the club.

After being messed around at West Ham, Hugill will be dropping down into the Championship, eager to show what he can do.

We know what the striker offers at Championship level: non-stop running, strength and a handful of goals.
