Nottingham Forest will be hoping for an immediate impact from new manager Martin O'Neil when he makes his debut in the dugout on Saturday against Bristol City.

The former Republic of Ireland and Aston Villa boss was given the job earlier this week after Aitor Karanka left his post as Forest boss.

However, it looks like O'Neil will not have to wait long for his first test as Bundesliga clubs reportedly prepare to bid for young winger Arvin Appiah.

Appiah has made just one senior appearance in the Championship this season, a one-minute cameo against Leeds United, and just one in the League Cup as well, but did score in the club's 3-2 loss to Burton Albion.

The Nottingham Post had reported earlier this month that the Reds were keen to tie the 18-year-old down to a new deal but with limited success. This latest revelation could intensify negotiations.

But should Forest cash in on the youngster instead?

We discuss...

Jay Taylor

“It would be naive to sell a player with so much potential when the first sign of foreign interest comes along.

“Martin O’Neill will hopefully build a better Nottingham Forest between now and next season.

“Arvin Appiah should be imperative to those plans as he has a tremendous future ahead of him.

“Selling him now for a short-term gain counterbalances the effects he could have in the long-term should be stay.

“Say Auf Wiedersehen to the interest and keep him at the City Ground.”

George Dagless

"I bet they're tempted.

"Appiah is a good young player but will he break into the side with the options Forest have?

"I think they should keep him but if a good offer comes in I can see him definitely moving as well."

Alfie Burns

"Absolutely not, they should be giving him a chance to impress Martin O’Neill.

“Appiah looks like he will have a bright future and to even consider cashing in now would be stupid.

“Forest need to start nurturing this talent rather than relying on incoming transfers.”
