Last weekend, Lyle Taylor scored a brace as Nottingham Forest defeated Wycombe Wanderers by two goals to nil at the City Ground.

The Reds recorded back-to-back wins for the first time this season heading into the international break, with results and performances improving under Chris Hughton.

Taylor headed in at the back post on 28 minutes, before firing low underneath Ryan Allsop after a powerful solo run to secure the win in the second half.

Saturday also saw Taylor reunite with former teammate Adebayo Akinfenwa - the pair played together at AFC Wimbledon under Neal Ardley.

Taylor and Akinfenwa scored 31 goals between them as AFC Wimbledon won promotion from League Two in 2015/16, with the pair forming a dangerous strike partnership.

There was a warm embrace between the pair both pre-match and post-match, and Taylor has now sent a belated message to the powerful striker on Instagram.

Taylor also apologised for 'doing his job' in scoring two goals, as Forest secured an invaluable three points.

The Verdict

It was nice to see Taylor and Akinfenwa reunite and get along at the weekend.

The pair are both really down to earth people and they were excellent together at AFC Wimbledon - they both compliment each other well.

Akinfenwa caused serious problems when he came on as a sub, with his aerial threat and physical prowess causing the defence damage.

Forest held on, though, and they had Taylor to thank following a superb individual performance.
