Sheffield United have finally got their man. After a lengthy transfer chase, they have confirmed the signing of midfielder Ryan Leonard from Southend United.

The 25-year-old has signed a three-and-a-half year deal at Bramall Lane after an undisclosed fee was agreed between the clubs who failed to come to an agreement for the player in the summer.

Leonard has signed in time to be part of the Steel City derby on Friday night when the Blades host their bitter rivals Sheffield Wednesday and played 25 times for Phil Brown's Shrimpers in League One this season

He netted four goals and laying on one assist for a team-mate but the long transfer chase shows that Wilder has been an admirer of the Englishman before this season.

Sheffield United fans reacted excitedly to finally securing a long-term transfer target. They are buzzing to finally have their man and hope he can make an instant impact on Friday.
