As part of his preparation for the second half of the season, Aston Villa manager Dean Smith has recalled winger Andre Green from his loan spell at League One leaders Portsmouth.

It has been suggested by Pompey manager Kenny Jackett that the 20-year old has been recalled by Villa as they look to get the right quota of home-grown talent within their playing squad.

So do you think Green will feature much for Villa during the run-in?

We discuss.....

Gary Hutchinson

“Not really, this recall is all about the homegrown quota.

“Kenny Jackett said as much.

“Would it be cynical to suggest it was the plan all along?

“Send him out on loan, get him operated on and a few games under his belt then back at Villa without impacting their squad.

“Seems very convenient to me.”

Louie Chandler

"I actually think he will.

"There seems to be a lot of frustration from the fans with Yannick Bolasie and Anwar El Ghazi as far as their work rate goes and I think that may be shared by Smith.

"I get the feeling he would much rather work with a young exciting talent who will give his all for the team.

Jay Taylor

“You would hope so, considering how well he was doing for Portsmouth.

“Aston Villa have fallen away a little, and their form has subsided somewhat.

“The return of Andre Green could well be a catalyst to an upturn in their form and inject some impetus into the flagging Villa side.”
