Hull fell to defeat at the hands of a resurgent Wolverhampton Wanderers last night, but seeing striker Abel Hernandez leave the field with a nasty looking Achilles injury will come as a great concern to Leonid Slutsky and Hull fans.

The Uruguayan forward is prolific at this level, and a long term layoff will be a huge blow to the Tigers promotion hopes this season.

If Hernandez is out for the foreseeable future, then a replacement needs to be found as soon as possible.

Hull had been linked with a shock loan move for Leicester City’s Ahmed Musa in the past few weeks, and Slutsky has admitted that the move could be back on the cards.

Following the injury to Hernandez, Slutsky must do whatever it takes to get this deal over the line.

The pacey, powerful Nigerian would be the perfect addition to the Humberside outfit, and has the potential to fill the void left by Hernandez’s absence.

Although Musa has struggled to adapt at the King Power Stadium since moving to the East Midlands from CSKA Moscow, the 63 cap international remains a fantastic player, and enjoyed a prolific spell in the tough Russian Premier League.

Hull already have a threadbare squad at the KCOM Stadium, and the loss of their star striker will be sure to demoralise Slutsky’s squad.

However, if the Russian boss can move quickly and replace Hernandez with a player of Musa’s pedigree, the belief will surely return to Hull in floods, and the Tigers can get their push for promotion back on track.

This was an important deal for Hull to pull off before Hernandez’s injury, but now the Uruguayan us out, this is an essential deal for Slutsky’s side.

How much of a blow is Hernandez's potential absence to your promotion aspirations, Hull fans?
