Hull City were unbelievably close to staying in the Premier League last year, and will be disappointed to find themselves in the Championship once more.

The Tigers fought their way back to the Premier League through the play-offs in 2016, but their fight for survival looked doomed from the start with manager Steve Bruce walking and their owners looking to sell.

This meant a struggle to find a replacement for Bruce, which ended up being Mike Phelan, a member of the backroom staff, and a lack of investment in a squad that greatly needed it to be within a chance of safety.

Their fortunes turned when Marco Silva was appointed manager in the New Year, and but for a defeat to Sunderland, they would have survived.

Silva brought in a number of players in January to help the Tigers to safety, one of which was Oumar Niasse, who turned on the goals and nearly fired the club to safety.

It's extremely unlikely we'll be seeing him back at the KCOM Stadium this year, so Hull should make an ambitious move to replace him with Benik Afobe.

Afobe looked as though he may finally be breaking into the first team picture at Bournemouth this year after Callum Wilson's injury.

However, the form of Josh King has pushed him down the pecking order once more, and once Wilson returns, he will be pushed down further.

A move to Hull could kick start his career once more.

He is renowned for being one of the best at this level, spending a year at Wolves and scoring 22 goals in that time.

If the £7.65 million-rated forward (as per Transfermarkt) wants to be a starting Premier League striker, he needs to leave Bournemouth now and join a club with promotion credentials where he will definitely be the first choice forward.

Hull would be that club, and both parties should make this move.
