Hull City are reportedly set to make £6.75 million from Leicester City's sale of Harry Maguire to Manchester United.

The Red Devils are rumoured to be on the verge of signing the England defender, who will undergo a medical today.

Hull are understood to have included a sell-on clause when they sold Maguire to the Foxes for £15 million in 2017, which means the Tigers will receive 15% of any profit Leicester make from any future sale.

United are thought to be paying Leicester an initial fee of £60 million for the centre-back, which could rise to £80 million after add ons.

If those figures are correct, then Hull would receive £6.75 million from the sale, plus a further £2.25 million depending on which add ons are met.

Sheffield United, who sold Maguire to Hull in 2014, will also receive a small payment from Maguire's potential move to Old Trafford.

The England international made 75 appearances for the Tigers during his two-and-a-half years at the club and could be about to provide further contribution two years after his departure.

Hull begin their season against Swansea City on 3rd August, in what will be new boss Grant McCann's first game in charge.

The Verdict

This could provide McCann with a real boost ahead of the new season, as long he is given the chance to reinvest some of the money.

There has been a notable player exodus this summer, with three players heading back to their parent clubs after loan deals and seven players leaving permanently, but just two new players have been added to the squad.

McCann has insisted that there is money to spend at the club and will hope that the windfall from the Maguire sale will provide him with more.

Hull finished in 12th-place last season and given the number of departures will surely need to add a significant number of new faces if they are to improve on that in the 2019/20 campaign.
