Hull City are determined to keep star man Jarrod Bowen at the club and they have offered the forward a new contract.

The 23-year-old has proven himself to be one of the best players in the Championship over the past 18 months, hitting 22 goals last season and he already has 17 in the current campaign.

Therefore, interest in the ex-Hereford man is inevitable and a host of clubs in the top two tiers, including Newcastle, are monitoring his situation.

However, the Tigers are hoping to tie down Bowen to a longer deal themselves, with Sky Sports revealing that they have put forward a contract that would see the player double his wage now and it would be quadrupled if they secure promotion to the Premier League.

His existing deal is due to expire in the summer, although the club have the option to extend that by a year, which they obviously will trigger in the coming months.

Despite losing to Derby County yesterday, Grant McCann's side are five points away from the top six and will feel they still have a chance of finishing in the play-off places come May.

The verdict

You can understand why Hull have made a move to keep Bowen and the fact they are prepared to double and potentially quadruple his current salary shows they are serious.

Having said that, it's hard to see Bowen accepting the deal as he will feel he is ready to play in the Premier League.

Hull need to do all they can to keep him at the club for the season and then reassess the situation in the summer but an exit at some points seems highly likely.
