Hull City are set to go into battle with Championship counterparts Derby County to retain the services of Tom Ince.
The 23-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at the iPro Stadium and he is now wanted on a permanent basis by the Rams.
The ex-Liverpool and Blackpool forward is expected to report for pre-season training with Hull next month having signed a two-year contract when he originally made the move from Bloomfield Road.
The Hull Daily Mail, is now reporting that as part of Ince’s loan deal to Derby last season, a buy-out clause was inserted which allows the Rams to purchase the player this summer.
It is understood that Derby have informed the Tigers of their desire to exercise that option having impressed during his temporary stint.
Hull boss Steve Bruce is now keen to keep hold of Ince following the Tigers relegation from the top-flight, and sees the player as a peripheral figure for next season.
Ince has yet to reveal where his preference would lie, but it would appear that Hull will now do all they can to keep hold of the man who netted 11 goals from 18 games last season.
Derby fans.. Would you welcome Ince back? Hull fans… Would Tom be a big player for you next season?
