Members of Acun Ilicali's team worked throughout Christmas Day in a bid to get the Turkish businessman's takeover of Hull City completed quicker, according to Baz Cooper of the Hull Daily Mail.

It has been nearly two months since the Tigers entered a period of exclusivity with Ilicali and many already expected the deal with the Allam family to be done.

Ilicali and Ehab Allam have recently been pictured together which suggested that the deal was almost done - but it's still not quite there yet.

Tan Kesler, a member of Ilicali's team and someone that has attended Hull matches this month, flew into England over the Christmas period to thrash out the final terms of the deal but despite the hard work, it was still not done on December 25.

There is hope though that it will be just a matter of days before Ilicali is sworn in as the new custodian of the MKM Stadium - they face Blackburn Rovers today but it won't be the day where the Turkish revolution begins.

The Verdict

This just shows the kind of commitment that the Ilicali team are making to push this deal through.

It just seems like a case of ironing out the final bits and pieces before the transferring of ownership can be done, and Hull fans will finally be able to celebrate in that case.

They've been patiently waiting and the Turkish flags have been coming out in force in recent weeks, and you could potentially put the turn-around in form on the pitch down to the imminent takeover.

Ilicali will want it done as soon as possible though so he can start strengthening the squad in January - whether that is with or without Grant McCann as manager.
