Hull City have confirmed that new signings Shaun Maloney and Adama Diomande will miss 2-3 weeks and 8 weeks respectively.

Bruce faces a headache after these injuries

Maloney picked up a hamstring injury whilst playing for Scotland in their 3-2 defeat to current World Cup holder's Germany, at Hampden Park last Monday.

Maloney played a pivotal role for the Scots as his freekick was turned into his own net by Mats Hummels for Scotland's first equaliser. The versatile Scot also marked his Hull City debut by coming off the bench to assist Curtis Davies' goal from a corner in the Tigers' 2-0 win over Preston North End.

Adama Diomande has been ruled out for up to 8 weeks following groin surgery without even kicking a ball for Hull City.

The Norwegian international was brought in by Hull boss, Steve Bruce, as a replacement for Nikica Jelavic who was sold to West Ham United on deadline day.

The striker boasted an impressive goal scoring record last campaign, albeit in the Norwegian Tippeligaen with Stabæk, with 17 goals in 21 games, and Bruce will be hoping that Diomande will be able to find that form in the Championship, once the pacey striker returns from injury.

Injuries were somewhat of a problem for Hull City last season during their relegation from the Premier League, with Jelavic missing 3 months, Mo Diame missing 6 months, and Andy Robertson missing 2 months, and Steve Bruce will be hoping that history is not about to repeat itself.

Hull City face top of the table Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium on Saturday, and Steve Bruce will be hoping that his squad will be able to follow up on their 2-0 win against Preston and snatch a result to boost their own promotion hopes.
