Hull City have announced that goalkeeper Will Mannion has left the club to join Kidderminster Harriers on loan until January.

Mannion has only made one appearance for the Tigers' senior team so far in his career, and didn't feature at all last season, so he'll be keen to prove himself away from the KCOM Stadium this term.

The 21-year-old spent last season on loan with Aldershot Town, where he made 24 appearances in total in the Vanarama National League.

But when he returned to Hull, it was highly unlikely that he was ever going to force his way into the senior side, with George Long and Matt Ingram ahead of him in the pecking order.

It seems as though Grant McCann is keen to find Mannion minutes in first team football to further his development, and the shot-stopper will be keen to show the Hull boss what he's missing out on this season.

The Tigers are currently sat ninth in the Championship table, and will be hoping to continue their good run of form after they thrashed promotion-chasing Preston 4-0 in midweek.

Mannion will be hoping that he can make his first start for his new team this weekend, when Kidderminster take on Southport in the Vanarama National League North clash on Saturday.

Hull will be looking to build on some impressive recent showings when they return to action on Barnsley at Oakwell in a game where they'll be expected to pick up three points.

The Verdict:

This is the best move for both parties involved here.

Mannion isn't going to be getting in the Hull starting XI anytime soon as he's not quite up to Championship standard in my opinion, so loaning him out to get regular minutes in senior football is a smart decision by the club.

If he can impress out on loan with Kidderminster Harriers, then he could well be challenging for a starting spot in future seasons for Hull.
