Former Arsenal trainee Seb Larsson has been approached by a Swedish side and looks set to leave Hull City this summer.

The 32-year old is out of contract in July and according to reports in Swedish media, Djurgardens have officially approached him, looking to take him back to his native country.

Larsson has only been with the Tigers for one season, joining Nigel Adkin's side after his release by Sunderland in the summer. He made his name not only at the Stadium of Light, but also in a four-year spell playing for Birmingham City.

The Hull Daily Mail report that Nigel Adkins would like to see the Swede extend his time at the KCOM Stadium this summer, but Fotboll Direkt are reporting Larsson has been contacted by not only Djurgardens, but also AIK.

He's set to feature for Sweden in this summer's World Cup and has been reported as dismissing a move, saying: “We haven’t spoken formally about anything but it’s also not the right time to be discussing those things.

"I think I speak for myself and the club that we are very relaxed about the situation. We all know what the main focus is and that is sorting this end of the season out and making sure we are still a Championship team next year and then things can be sorted in the summer.”

The Verdict

There must be a big temptation to return to his homeland for a final swan song, but his rhetoric earlier in the campaign suggested he's be remaining with the Tigers.

It looks set to be one of a number of transfer issues that rumble on whilst the World Cup is in progress, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if he doesn't head back to Sweden once the Russia event is finished.
