Fenerbahce will look to target Hull City midfielder Markus Henriksen if they are unable to complete a deal for Marseille's Luis Gustavo, the print edition of Turkish newspaper Fotomac has reported.

It was reported earlier in the summer that Hull and Henriksen had agreed that it would be best for both parties if the two were to part company, and Fenerbahce could look to take advantage of that.

According to the latest reports, Henriksen is an option for Fenerbahce to look to sign before the close of the European transfer window on Monday, although Brazilian midfielder Gustavo is currently the Turkish side's primary target.

Despite that, it seems as though talks may have already begun between Fenerbahce and Hull over a move for Henriksen, as the Istanbul based club are apparently trying to convince Hull to lower their asking price for the midfielder to below its' current amount, which is said to be €4.5million.

Since joining Hull from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2016, Henriksen has made 92 appearances in all competitions for the club, although he has not featured for the Tigers this season.

Earlier in the summer, it was claimed that Sporting Lisbon, Valencia and Bordeaux were all also taking an interest in signing the midfielder, who has just one year remaining on his current contract at the KCOM Stadium.

The Verdict

This will be a frustrating situation for Henriksen.

While you can kind of understand Fenerbahce preferring a move for Gustavo, given the Brazilian's experience and proven abilities at the very top level for many years now, that does little to help Henriksen here.

It seems pretty clear that he is set on leaving Hull this summer, and with just days remaining in the transfer window, the midfielder will surely be keen to know something with more certainty sooner rather than later.

Considering this could be Hull's last chance to receive a fee for the striker as well, you imagine they too will be keen to get something confirmed as soon as possible, and you wonder whether that could convince them to lower their asking price for the midfielder to something that may be more feasible for a side such as Fenerbahce.
