Hull City are in talks to sign young goalkeeper Callum Burton, according to a report by HITC Sport.

Sources close to HITC Sport believe that Hull City are very keen on signing Shrewsbury Town starlet Callum Burton and are already in discussions to complete this deal.

Callum Burton has been tipped for a very bright future and he is highly regarded by Shrewsbury Town.

The 20-year-old has emerged through the youth ranks at Shrewsbury Town and made his first team debut for the club in the final game of the 2015/16 season.

Burton played 90 minutes between the sticks as Shrewsbury Town lost 3-0 to Swindon Town.

Last season, Burton had to settle for third choice as Jayson Leutwiler and Mark Halstead were ahead of him in the pecking order.

Coming into this season, it looks like the England youth international will still remain as third choice goalkeeper after the Shrews signed Dean Henderson (Manchester United) and Craig MacGillivray (Walsall) this summer.

As a result, Callum Burton looks set to leave with Hull City edging towards completing this deal.

The young stopper spent two separate loan spells in non-league last season, firstly with Nuneaton Town and then with AFC Telford.

Burton's arrival would provide more competition for places in the goalkeeper department at Hull City after Eldin Jakupovic left to join Leicester City.

Hull currently have David Marshall, Allan McGregor and Will Mannion as their 'keeper options.
