Hull City remain just in contention for a play-off spot in the Championship this season, sitting five points away from sixth with four games to go.

The Tigers have been a surprise package of sorts under manager Nigel Adkins, and have shocked quite a few people with some impressive displays which have seen them take some big scalps over the course of the campaign.

The likes of Jarrod Bowen doing so well has been a massive boost to the club, but it is manager Adkins who deserves a lot of credit too, as the former Reading and Sheffield United manager has been given the time needed to put his stamp on the club.

He is reaping the rewards it would seem too based on some of the performances his players put in for him, but his future remains uncertain at the KCom, with no new deal yet agreed for the promotion winning boss.

A new contract remains, as yet, unsigned and it would be a bitter blow for the club to lose a manager who is so clearly at home with how things are going at the club and is obviously keen to prove himself after having such a disastrous time in charge of Championship high flyers Sheffield United previously.

Adkins is a man who knows the Championship well, and Hull simply have to give him the new deal and not let him escape their clutches with other clubs inevitably sniffing around as we head towards the summer months.

Not always a huge fan favourite and not always someone who perhaps gets the credit he deserves, Adkins has done a more than impressive job at Hull, and with a bit more backing financially, he could really get the club challenging next term.

A finish just below the top six is nothing to be sniffed at for Hull this season given expectations at the beginning of the campaign, and there's plenty to be hopeful of if Adkins remains in the hotseat.
