It has been confirmed on Sky Sports’ official Twitter page that Hull City have accepted a bid from Premier League outfit Swansea, for midfielder Sam Clucas.

This news comes just days after the 26-year-old missed his club’s defeat at QPR with his manager revealing the reason he didn’t play is that “he is preparing to play for another club”.

Initially, it looked as though Burnley were leading the charge to sign the highly regarded midfielder but given that they have just spent £15 million on Chris Wood, this move may now be out of their budget.

So, in swoops Paul Clement as he continues in his attempts to strengthen the Swansea side that were nearly playing Championship football themselves come to the start of this season.

The Verdict

Hull haven’t had the best start to the 2017/18 campaign and selling one of their best players isn’t going to help that.

Although, given the fact that the club informed Burnley that Clucas would cost them £20 million it can be assumed that is what they have asked Swansea to pay.

That money could be reinvested very nicely into a struggling Hull side so now it looks like Leonid Slutsky will have a very busy end to this summer’s transfer window.

The Hull fans certainly won’t like seeing their star man go but they are unlikely to get a better offer than that for a player approaching his best years.

Cash in now and just make sure that money is put to good use.
