Hull City’s bid for Oliver Norwood has been rejected by Brighton and Hove Albion.

According to Sky Sports, the Championship club have made a fresh approach for the Premier League player.

The Tigers have held long-term interest in the midfielder after they had a bid rejected earlier in the summer for the Northern Ireland international.

Norwood spent last season on loan at Fulham where he would win promotion to the top flight via the Championship play-off final.

During his time at Craven Cottage, he was a near ever-present making 41 appearances and scoring five goals.

Before a loan spell in London, Norwood had a hand in his parent club’s climb to the Premier League two years ago.

With new arrivals at the Amex, the 27-year-old’s future looks in doubt on the south coast with Hull the only side to turn interest into an official approach.

The Verdict

Oliver Norwood doesn’t look like he has a future at Brighton and will probably leave the club by the time the transfer and loan windows close.

He has the Championship experience any club would desire having won promotion to the Premier League in two successive seasons, with two different clubs.

Hull City and Nigel Adkins are desperate for new recruits with the Tiger’s boss keen to bolster his side ahead of the new season starting this weekend with a home match against Aston Villa.

Norwood would be the grit in the middle of the park a Tigers side needs after a pretty inept season last time out.

The Northern Ireland international should hold out a little longer to see if a club who will be higher up the league come in for him.

If not, he might have to compromise challenging for promotion with the want to play regular first-team football.
