Hull City manager Grant McCann has confirmed that Eric Lichaj will be available for selection for the club's clash with Millwall on Saturday.

The 30-year-old has been out of action due to a hamstring injury but is now set to make a return to action at The Den.

Speaking to the club's official website about the defender, McCann said: "Eric [Lichaj] will be fit for the weekend."

Stephen Kingsley and Brandon Fleming could also be in contention to feature against the Lions providing that they overcome their respective illnesses.

In Lichaj's absence, the Tigers have suffered three consecutive defeats with their latest setback occurring in Tuesday's Carabao Cup second round clash with Preston North End.

After conceding two goals in the space of six minutes at Deepdale, Hull halved the deficit through Josh Magennis before Jarrod Bowen scored a dramatic equaliser in the dying embers of the game to take it to penalties.

Whilst Preston were able to score all of their spot-kicks, Tom Eaves' miss for Hull resulted in the club being eliminated from the competition.

With Lichaj expected to replace summer signing Leonardo Da Silva Lopes in the Tigers' starting XI, it will be intriguing to see how he copes against a physical Millwall side.

A mainstay at the back for Hull last season, the USA international made 40 appearances in all competitions.

The Verdict

This is unquestionably good news for Hull who have struggled considerably without their club captain in recent weeks.

If Lichaj can help the Tigers make a much-needed return to form, they could go on to achieve a relative amount of success in the Championship.

With the likes of Bowen and Kamil Grosicki providing the firepower for Hull, it is clear that by improving defensively, they could become a force to be reckoned with in the second-tier.
