Championship strugglers Hull City are eyeing up a move for Derby midfielder Jacob Butterfield.

According to the Hull Daily Mail, Tigers manager Nigel Adkins is keen on signing the former Barnsley and Huddersfield man, who has fallen down the pecking order somewhat at Pride Park following an unsuccessful loan spell with Sheffield Wednesday.

Butterfield has yet to make an appearance under Lampard in the Championship, and it is strongly reported that Butterfield could well be on his way out in the January window as Lampard looks to allow the midfielder the chance to seek some game time away from the Rams.

Hull are looking for new players as they once again sit in the midst of a relegation battle under Adkins, and they will no doubt see Butterfield as someone who can come in and offer some much needed quality and experience in the middle of the park.

Butterfield has had plenty of moves already in his career, with spells at Middlesbrough, Norwich and Huddersfield among his career profile.

The Verdict

This one makes sense, and there's plenty of clubs who would take a punt on the 28-year-old.

Butterfield has plenty of ability, it's just he isn't getting the time at Derby.

He will no doubt be keen for a move himself, and after last season, will be keen to prove his form for Sheffield Wednesday was just a one off.
