New Hull City signing Adama Traore is going to be out until around Christmas after suffering a serious hamstring injury.

The midfielder had been a target for the Tigers for most of the summer and a deal was recently done to bring the player in from Turkish football.

However, in a major blow for Traore and boss Shota Arveladze, Hull Live have revealed that the 27-year-old has suffered a tear in his hamstring when training with his new teammates.

They state the severity of the injury means he is unlikely to be returning to fitness until Christmas, meaning he will miss most of the first half of the campaign.

Strengthening the midfield had been a priority for Arveladze this summer and whilst the likes of Ozan Tufan and potentially John Michael Seri will provide quality to the team, there were also high hopes for Traore.

So, the new addition is going to have to wait some time to make his competitive debut for Hull, who begin their Championship campaign at home to Bristol City later this month.

The verdict

This is a real blow for Hull and you have sympathy for Traore as he would've been eager to make a positive new impression and now he faces months out.

But, these things happen in football and there's nothing the player can do now other than ensure he does everything right in terms of his recovery.

Perhaps the only slight positive from Hull's perspective is that it's happened early in the window so if they feel they need to replace Traore then they do have time to bring in a replacement.
