In-form Championship play-off hopefuls Hull City are keen on making a move for Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty.

The 22-year-old is currently midway through a season long loan spell with Shrewsbury Town, and has impressed in the main, scoring seven goals and dishing up seven assist for his teammates, much to the attention of onlooking Championship scouts.

And now, according to the Hull Daily Mail, the Tigers have been alerted to Docherty's form and situation, and could well make a move for the Rnagers man in the January window.

Docherty could be available for a permanent move, and Hull, who are in a fine run of form following six successive wins in the Championship, could well offer him the chance of a move into the second tier of English football.

However, Rotherham United are also credited with an interest in the Rangers man, who has been left out in the cold by Gers manager Steven Gerrard, meaning a move away from Ibrox on a permanent deal is looking ever more likely.

Millers manager Paul Warne has been impressed with Docherty, and with the budget he has to work with one of the smaller in the division, the Rangers man might well be within his price range.

The Verdict

It just shows sometimes if you can impress on a loan deal then there might be doors open, and this seems to be the case with Docherty.

His form has been superb for the Shrews it has to be said, and he'd no doubt relish a move to either interested party.

Hull of course are in fine form and can pay more money, but Rotherham are doing ok as well, and he'd be a good capture for either side.
