Hull City have confirmed that two of their players have tested positive for Covid-19 after the EFL announced that there were two positive tests from the 24 Championship clubs.

There has been plenty of speculation as to when and how the second tier can resume and the plan was for the clubs to return to training tomorrow.

That will surely go ahead after only two of the 1,014 tests came back positive. And, Hull released a statement on their official site this afternoon announcing that they were the club to have been impacted by this.

As a result, the unnamed duo will self isolate for the next week and they will be tested again in the future before they return to the group.

This news comes after the Tigers voiced their anger at the prospect of resuming the season, by sending a second letter to the rest of the Championship clubs that outlined their opposition to returning - which didn't go down well.

Grant McCann's side are currently one place above the relegation zone and have picked up just two points from their last 11 league games.

The verdict

Firstly, you have to say that you wish any one who has picked up the virus well and hopefully the players will be able to get back training in the coming weeks.

This is likely to reinforce Hull's stance that the games shouldn't be played but in the bigger picture the fact that only two out of over 1,000 tests were positive suggests we will be able to get the season going again.

Ultimately, this is something that is going to have to be monitored on a daily and weekly basis.
