Following Acun Ilicali's recent takeover of Hull City, the club have naturally become more ambitious about what the summer promises, and about next season too.

The Tigers, who finished 19th in the second tier last season, may even have the play-off positions in sight next season, especially if it can be a productive summer at the MKM Stadium.

Sticking on the theme of ambitious transfer dealings, Hull tried their luck with Reading free agent John Swift, as per a report from Hull Live, with the creative midfielder eventually joining West Brom.

The report states that the Hull hierarchy held talks with the exciting 26-year-old and are believed to be disappointed to have lost him to a considered promotion rival.

Despite there being Premier League interest during the 2021/22 season, it was eventually Steve Bruce's West Brom that won the race for the midfielder.

The verdict

Now what an impressive addition Swift would have been at Hull.

It would have set the Tigers up very well ahead of a summer that promises to be an exciting one, with Swift possessing the kind of ability that could have single-handedly improved Hull this summer.

For Hull fans, there must be excitement around the club when hearing that the club were disappointed to lose out on Swift to a club like West Brom who they consider as a promotion rival.

There will be plenty of belief around the Hull camp this summer, especially if they can get a few deals that are currently being talked about over the line in what remains of this window.
