Hull City midfielder Greg Docherty has admitted to Hull Live that the club's game against Blackpool on Tuesday evening is huge.

The Tigers are set to play host to the Seasiders tonight in a game that could already prove pivotal to their chances of staying in the Sky Bet Championship for another season.

Grant McCann's side currently sit just shy of being rock bottom of the league standings, with only Derby County's recent point deduction preventing them from propping up the division.

Now Docherty has laid down the gauntlet to his teammates ahead of the game at the MKM Stadium, as he stated the following:

"It's big, it's a big, big game for us there's no hiding from it. The longer it goes on without getting that win, it gets harder.

"You want it off your back, you want to get back to winning ways and you want that feel-good factor again, and that's what we need to aim for."

As Docherty rightly alludes to, Hull are yet to win at home in the league this season, whilst their only victory since being promoted came in their opening fixture away at Preston North End.

A win on home turf this evening could potentially see the Tigers move out of the relegation zone.

The Verdict

Tonight's game against Blackpool is certainly winnable and Hull no doubt be heading into the fixture with confidence that they can get a win.

Things just haven't gone their way since that emphatic win against Preston and it now feels like that the opening day win was almost like a blip.

They seriously need to start to turn around their form, otherwise they could be cut adrift of safety over the coming weeks.

Make no mistake, McCann will only be all too aware of the importance of getting the right result this evening.
