Brighton and Hove Albion already seem to be planning for their debut season in the Premier League, with Chris Hughton looking to alter his squad slightly as he aims to establish the Seagulls in the top-flight.

One thing Hughton has hinted he will be changing is Brighton’s formation, ditching the trusted 4-4-2 that served the club so well in the Sky Bet Championship and using a 4-4-1-1 system.

Hughton has highlighted a natural ‘number ten’ to occupy the supporting role to the striker, insisting that recruiting a playmaker will be high on Brighton’s agenda this summer.

Chelsea’s Izzy Brown, who is currently on-loan with Huddersfield Town, should be a player Hughton looks to bring to the Amex Stadium to solve his problem in the number ten position.

Brown spent the first-half of the Championship season with struggling Rotherham United, but has excelled since his loan move to Huddersfield in January.

The 20-year old has played a major role in helping Huddersfield reach the play-offs, scoring five goals in his 19 appearances for David Wagner’s side.

Reports suggest Chelsea would be willing to let Brown leave Stamford Bridge permanently for around £3m, but Huddersfield’s chances of signing the midfielder depend on which division they find themselves in next season.

Brighton are on the lookout for a creative cog to play in an advanced midfield role, and Brown has shown since his move to Huddersfield, that within an organised team, with good players around him, he can excel.

If reports are correct and Chelsea are only likely to demand £3m for Brown’s service over the summer, Hughton must move fast to bring one of English football’s young stars to the Amex Stadium.
