The summer transfer window could be an important one for Swansea City, regardless of what league they are in next season, as Steve Cooper continues to look at bringing in young players to help his cause.

Indeed, according to Alan Nixon, Manchester United youngster James Garner is of interest to the Swans on a potential loan deal.

Would he be a good signing, then? Our writers discuss...

This'd be a great signing, and one that could really benefit all parties involved.

The 19-year-old should be sent out on loan next season to help him mature and develop as a footballer, with first-team opportunities at United unlikely to come around that often.

Swansea could be a perfect fit for Garner with Swans boss Steve Cooper renowned for offering youth a chance at first-team level, and we have already seen the benefits that Premier League loanees Rhian Brewster and Conor Gallagher have had since playing regular Championship football at the Liberty Stadium.

Garner would be given an opportunity under Cooper at Swansea and my eyes, and the midfielder's impressive passing skillset would match the Welsh club's style of play perfectly.

With Gallagher returning to Chelsea in the summer, Garner could be a great alternative for the Swans, regardless of the division that the club find themselves in next season.

I love this move from a Swansea perspective.

They've benefitted greatly from some really smart loan moves this season and their current play-off push is spearheaded by Chelsea's Conor Gallagher and Liverpool's Rhian Brewster.

In his few appearances for Manchester United, Garner has looked a quality midfielder and a really bright prospect. He looks the sort of player that would thrive on loan in the Championship next season, providing that's where the Swans are.

He's someone that can control the tempo of games from the centre of midfield and should fit in with the expansive style of play that Cooper has looked to play this term.

From a United perspective, you'd imagine sending Garner to a proven youth coach like Cooper would be hugely appealing.

I can see the logic here.

Swansea are going to need new central midfielders in the summer, with Conor Gallagher set to return to Chelsea and I would back him to move to a Premier League side, squashing the Swans' chances of landing him permanently.

Garner is a really talented midfielder who is excellent with the ball at his feet, which is to perhaps be expected from a young player who has come through the ranks at Man United, and he also plays with such a mature head on his shoulders it seems.

He needs regular game time if he is to improve as a player and further his development, and a loan move to a side like Swansea would be beneficial for him, I feel.

We have seen Rhian Brewster really improve since making the loan move from Liverpool, and Garner will be hoping for similar if he moves to South Wales.
