According to reports from the Northern Echo, Middlesbrough are interested in signing Brentford duo Ollie Watkins and Neal Maupay.

The North East club are said to be keen on bolstering their attacking line, having scored just 31 goals in 28 league games this season.

Despite sitting in the play-off positions, only four teams have scored less than Boro this term.

On paper, Maupay and Watkins look to be the perfect solution to this.

Watkins has scored eight goals and produced three assists in all competitions this season, whilst Maupay is one of the leading goal-scorers in the league with 16 league goals to his name.

But with Watkins valued at a price of £20million via Sky Sports, and the Northern Echo claiming that the Bees are demanding £10million for Maupay, are the duo worth the money?

Here, we discuss whether the pair would be good signings for Middlesbrough...

George Harbey

"This would be a huge statement of intent from Middlesbrough, but I can't see it happening.

"I just can't see the club forking out up to £30million this late on in the window, nor can I see Brentford looking to sell them both with just a day left to find a replacement.

"What a sensational coup this would be, though."

Gary Hutchinson

"Maupay and Watkins at Boro? Not for me.

"They wouldn’t suit the Boro way at all - Brentford is all about build up and chance creation, Boro are all about back to front quickly and fast breaks.

"This would be a bad move for the players."

Jay Taylor

"This double swoop could save their season.

"Watkins is a pacy winger who could finally be the replacement for Adama Traore who left in the summer.

"Maupay could replace Assombalonga who is linked with a move away.

"And the Brentford pair would instantly enhance the attacking line at the Riverside - goals, pace and trickery in abundance between the both of them.

"It would be an impressive agreement if it was to be done in time."
