Birmingham City were beaten 3-1 by Bournemouth yesterday but many Blues fans have picked out Scott Hogan's first goal of the season as a clear positive.

Arnaut Danjuma slickly put the hosts ahead at the Vitality Stadium before a David Brooks' brace, scored either side of the break, extended their lead o over Aitor Karanka's men.

Hogan nodded in a reply in the 55th minute but it was not enough to stop the Blues suffering their fourth defeat of the season – leaving them 17th after 11 games.

After impressing on loan last term, the 28-year-old striker was signed permanently from Aston Villa in the summer but has struggled to rediscover his form this season.

Hogan scored seven goals in 17 matches after joining on loan in January but has had to wait until this seventh game to find the net for the first time in 2020/21.

Despite the defeat, the goal will likely be a huge boost in confidence for the forward and the St Andrew's faithful will no doubt be hoping he comes out firing after the international break.
