Reading are in the midst of a relegation battle in the Championship this season, only a point outside the drop zone heading into the final eight matches of the season.

But Royals manager Jose Gomes has a received a boost following the news that striker Nelson Oliveira could return from injury and be available for the final three games of the season, as reported on Sky Sports.

Admittedly Reading's fate could already be decided by then, but if the Royals need to get something from the fixtures against West Brom, Middlesbrough and Birmingham, then the return of the 27-year-old could prove crucial.

So how big a boost could Oliveira’s return be to Reading's survival hopes?

We discuss........

George Dagless

"Huge boost.

"He's not been prolific for Reading but he has played well and is a quality player for the big moments in the season.

"You can see him getting the crucial goal to keep them in the division for sure."

Jay Taylor

“They could be down by then.

“But if they are still keeping their heads above water – then the final three games will be huge for Reading having the striker back.

“If he was out for the rest of the season, I would say they are doomed, but the three-game spell he will feature in gives them a fighting chance.”

Gary Hutchinson

“Huge.

“He was brought in to create and score goals, he can’t do that from the stands.

“This could be the boost they need to survive.

“Reading fans will be delighted.”
