Hull City have confirmed via their official website that Brazilian midfielder Evandro played in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Bradford City this afternoon, in what was the player’s first appearance since picking up an injury in preseason.

The 31-year-old joined the club in January from Porto, and remained on the Humber despite the club’s relegation from the Premier League under former boss Marco Silva.

With the Tigers back in league action against Ipswich Town next weekend, boss Leonid Slutsky will be delighted to have Evandro nearing a first team return, as he attempts to guide his side away from the relegation places to an unlikely promotion push.

Run outs were also given to first team regulars David Marshall, Michael Dawson and Michael Hector as the trio attempt to keep match-fitness during the international break.

The Verdict

Having as many players available to him as possible will delight Russian boss Slutsky, who will be keen to see exactly what the Brazilian is made of after having little time to work with him following his arrival in the summer.

Injured early into the preseason schedule, Evandro will be eager to get back into the starting XI as soon as possible, and that journey begins by impressing his manager in training.

Evandro could prove to be a real star at this level with his experience and ability, and Hull fans will be delighted to see their midfield man nearing a first team return.
