Huddersfield Town boss Carlos Corberan will be hoping he can see an improvement from his side's results at the earliest of opportunities.

The Terriers are currently sat 16th in the Championship table, and are winless in their last four league matches, which has seen them slide down the second-tier standings.

Corberan had previously worked alongside Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds United, before making the step into management with Huddersfield Town during the summer.

Speaking in an interview with Coaches Voice, Corberan revealed that winning promotion with Leeds was the ideal time to leave the club.

"We had made it back into the Premier League. I was working alongside a coach like Marcelo and for a club with fans like Leeds. So why change?"

"I always wanted to be a coach. You also understand that, if you want to keep growing, every stage has to come to an end at some point.

"After promotion, I felt there couldn’t be a better ending. Promotion was the best way to give thanks for all the support and trust that Marcelo, Andrea, Iván and Víctor, alongside his working group, had given me."

Corberan went on to state that he was keen to leave Elland Road on his own terms, and not by having the decision take out of his own hands for one reason or another.

"I had been given a great opportunity and I wanted to pay them back in the best possible way. In football, it is fundamental to give the best of yourself to people who believe in you.

"There is nothing more important than the club you are at, otherwise, you are at risk of valuing what you have only when you lose it.

"So you have to try to make the decision to leave on your own terms, and not ever have that decision taken by the people who hired you to be there."

"Every decision has a level of risk and fear. But, if you are able to put those aside, then you can go through the situations and challenges that you need to move forward.

"What really matters is seizing all that each opportunity can teach you.

"That is exactly what I am trying to do at Huddersfield. Because football challenges you every day. Every team you play against is forcing you to find new and better answers.

"Every training session has to be perfect. So does every moment with the players, in order for them to be able to deliver."

Corberan and his Huddersfield Town players are set to return to action this weekend, when they take on in-form Middlesbrough, in what is certain to be a tricky test.

The Verdict:

I think he's got a big future ahead of him as a manager.

Corberan will have learned a considerable of amount from a manager like Marcelo Bielsa, who has certainly made a positive impact on and off the pitch at Leeds United.

It's not been the best of starts for Corberan at Huddersfield Town though, and he'll be eager to prove a point to any of his doubters heading into the hectic festive period.

If the Terriers can put together a positive run of results, then I don't think they'll be worrying about potential relegation into League One this season.
