Huddersfield Town take on Cardiff City at the John Smith’s Stadium on Wednesday evening, with Football League World set to bring you updates from West Yorkshire over the course of the evening.

Both sides enter the fixture in high spirits after recording weekend wins; Huddersfield overcame Queens Park Rangers 2-0, whilst Cardiff were 1-0 winners on their travels at Luton Town.

Whilst victories put the same amount of points on the table, recent successes meant different things at different ends of the table for these two sides, with Huddersfield pulling six points clear of the relegation zone and Cardiff keeping their play-off push alive under Neil Harris.

Despite the difference in ambition this season, this promises to be a close encounter, as many Championship fixtures are, with Danny Cowley’s Huddersfield side really improving since he swapped Lincoln for Yorkshire.

Cowley also has the added encouragement that he could welcome back 13-goal ace Karlan Grant, who has a chance of featuring according to his boss.

However, as our above graphic shows, there’s a high chance Grant will not be risked against the Bluebirds, with Juninho Bacuna, Elias Kachunga and Emile Smith Rowe supporting Steve Mounie, who was on the scoresheet against QPR and has his six goals in his last eight outings in the Championship.

Whilst that leads to an unchanged set-up for the home side, there could be one slight tweak to the Cardiff line-up, with Junior Hoilett coming into the attack for Josh Murphy as Harris looks for the best combination to play around key man, Lee Tomlin.

Even though Cowley and Harris remain without some big hitters, these two line-ups (give or take a couple) produced big results at the weekend and deserve to remain largely unchanged.

And, on the back of such positive weekend performances, there’s little to choose between the two heading into Wednesday, with both needing points to get them where they want to be come May.
