Speaking to the Yorkshire Post, Huddersfield Town’s Izzy Brown has insisted his goal on Tuesday evening against Wolverhampton Wanderers, was the most important of his career to date.

Brown’s 31st minute strike gave Town a 1-0 victory at Molineux, and confirmed David Wagner’s side would compete in the Sky Bet Championship’s Play-Offs next month.

The on-loan Chelsea star has struggled with injury in recent weeks and Tuesday was his first start since March.

The 20-year old reflected on his goal and return to first-team action, he said: “To score such an important goal to take the boys into the play-offs is a feeling no-one can really understand. It is something I can’t really describe, apart from saying I feel really happy.

“When on the sidelines, it can be difficult. It is hard for anyone to miss games, as watching on TV at home is not the same as being on the pitch and being able to have an influence.

“I always try that shot in training and sometimes it goes in, sometimes it doesn’t. It is the most important goal I have scored in my life. I am ecstatic and so happy to be back.”

Brown’s return to fitness will be a major boost for Wagner ahead of the Play-Offs.

The midfielder has scored five goals since his arrival at the John Smith’s Stadium in January, significantly adding to the three he scored during the first-half of the season with Rotherham United.

Town became the first side to qualify for next month’s Play-Offs, with Sheffield Wednesday, Reading and Fulham expected to join the Terriers in the coming weeks.
