Huddersfield Town are said to be interested in signing Brentford defender, Yoann Barbet according to Examiner Live.

The Frenchman is out of contract with the Bees at the end of the month, and he is set to become a free agent when the transfer window opens on July 1st.

Barbet made 37 appearances for Brentford last season as they finished 11th in the Championship, and he's evidently made a good impression on the Terriers.

But his season came to an unfortunate end as he picked up an ankle ligament injury that ruled him out of action for the rest of last year's league campaign.

It has previously been reported by French media outlet, L'Equipe, that Leeds United are also keeping tabs on the defender ahead of a potential summer transfer swoop.

Barbet made 118 appearances for Brentford since arriving at the club back in 2015, and he is clearly a player with a considerable amount of experience under his belt in English football.

Huddersfield will need players that know that the Championship won't be a pushover, and Barbet is the type of player that matches that criteria.

The fact that he is a free agent soon will attract further interest in his services, so Huddersfield will have to waste no time in attempting to sign him ahead of the 2019/2020 season.

The Verdict:

This would be a really good signing by the Terriers.

Huddersfield need players in their squad that know what is required in the Championship, and Barbet certainly fits that description.

They need to act quickly to strike a deal with the Frenchman though, as he already has a number of clubs keeping tabs on him heading into the summer.
