Huddersfield Town plan to spend some of the cash they receive from the sale of Karlan Grant in the closing days of the summer transfer window.

Grant hasn’t featured for Huddersfield this season under Carlos Corberan, with serious doubt surrounding his future in West Yorkshire.

It appears that a move to West Brom is going to go through in the coming 48 hours, ending a long saga involving the 23-year-old.

Quiz: Do Huddersfield Town and Leeds United have these 10 things in common?

As per Alan Nixon, Grant will seal a move to West Bromwich Albion in the coming days, stepping back up into the Premier League on the back of a 19-goal season in the Championship.

It’s believed that Grant’s move to the Hawthorns should secure Huddersfield around £14m, with Nixon indicating that Town’s reaction to that will be to spend some of that money in the remaining days of the transfer window.

It isn’t clear who the Yorkshire side will target, though, as Corberan looks to bolster his squad after a steady start to life as head-coach at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Huddersfield have picked up four point from their opening four fixtures of the Championship season. A win over Nottingham Forest and draw with Rotherham United in their last two fixtures put Corberan’s first points on the board ahead of the international break.

The Verdict

It’s a reaction to Grant’s sale that’s needed.

Huddersfield are losing their main man. Grant bagged 19 goals last season and was Town’s only real outlet in terms of goals.

So, in that sense, it makes it really important that Huddersfield get another striker through the door.

They are going to be short of goals over the course of the season and getting the right man in could decide whether this year is a success or failure.
