Huddersfield Town have joined the list of Championship clubs reportedly hoping to secure a loan move for Liverpool forward Rhian Brewster in the upcoming January transfer window.

The Telegraph reported on Sunday that the Reds are prepared to make the 19-year-old available for loan in the coming transfer window, with Championship clubs Leeds United, Preston North End, Sheffield Wednesday, Swansea City and Huddersfield Town all keen on securing his services.

Town chairman Phil Hodgkinson revealed to BBC Radio Leeds at the end of November that he will look to 'exploit' the Premier League loan market in order to bolster the Town squad in January.

Despite Karlan Grant's 12 goals so far this term, Town find themselves the fourth lowest scorers in the Championship and any additional fire-power would be welcomed by Danny Cowley.

Despite being linked to several Championship club's, it seems that Steve Cooper's Swansea City could be the 19-year-old's next destination given his past relationship with the Swansea boss.

Brewster was part of the Cooper's England under-17 side that won the under-17's World Cup in 2017 and a reunion with his former manager could be on the cards.

The Swans will face stiff competition for the 19-year-old and Huddersfield Town should provide some competition as Danny Cowley looks to bolster his attacking options.

Brewster has featured twice for Liverpool's senior side so far this term, both in the EFL Cup against MK Dons and in the thrilling 5-5 draw with Arsenal.

The Verdict

Swansea may look like the favourites for Brewster's next destination but given Hodgkinson's comments at the end of November, Town will certainly be looking into the possibility to bring in players of his calibre.

Should Town miss out on Brewster they should press on at looking to bring in at least one more forward player to add to improve the firepower that Town appear to be lacking.

Karlan Grant has scored 50% of Town's league goals so far this term, and Juninho Bacuna with five goals is Town's second top-scorer.

Town will be wary that a second goalscorer would no doubt help them move further away from the relegation zone and if they fail in their pursuit of Brewster they should seek alternative options.
