Mathias Jorgensen appears to be a man determined to leave Huddersfield this summer, amid reports from The Scottish Sun that he could join Celtic.

Part of that is due to his lack of game time since Jan Siewart took over in January, having played only four times since the German's appointment.

Jorgensen has previously spoken out on the prospect of playing under previous manager David Wagner at Schalke, and admitted it would be interesting.

His heart is clearly no longer in Huddersfield, and now that he is out of contention for the manager, him leaving could be a good deal for both club and player.

Speaking to The Scottish Sun, Zanka said: “I don't really want to talk about that (Celtic).

“I know that when we come across the other side of this, I'm probably out of my boring situation in Huddersfield, and then when you do, you're hopefully playing again.

"Of course, I would like a clarification as soon as possible, but it is also about being able to make the right choice."

The Denmark international signed for The Terriers in summer 2017, and has made 62 appearances for the club and was key in their survival in his first season at the club.

The Verdict

Zanka is clearly fed up with his current situation at Huddersfield. He is frustrated by not playing and probably feels undervalued given his service to the club previously. Celtic would be a good move for him, he'd be one of the better players in the Scottish Premiership and he would likely still get picked by his country whilst also winning silverware.

It is a strange decision from the club and the manager to cast him out. He did well in his first at the club and would have a lot to offer the club in the Championship. It is possible that they want him off the wage bill and a fresh start for a defence which conceded an average of two goals per game in the Premier League last season.
