Huddersfield Town midfielder Trevoh Chalobah has taken to Twitter for a show of solidarity following their setback at the weekend as they fell to defeat at local rivals Leeds United.

The Terriers have been struggling this season following their drop from the Premier League and Danny Cowley is overseeing a transition as he looks to mould the squad more towards his image, having been appointed after the season begun.

Trevoh Chalobah joined on-loan from Chelsea in the summer after spending last season with relegated side Ipswich Town, and is currently plying his trade in a similar part of the Championship table as he was last term.

While he has been impressive since coming into the middle of midfield, the squad haven’t been able to stop the rot which has seen them threatened with going from Premier League football to League One football in the space of two seasons.

A huge 4-0 win at home to Charlton Athletic massively boosted the Terriers’ survival bid, but they were brought back down to earth in their next outing as they fell to a West Yorkshire derby defeat against Leeds United after being outplayed by the side sitting pretty at the top of the table.

It means that Huddersfield are still hanging precariously close to the relegation zone with just nine games left to play, but Chalobah is remaining positive that the club can steer clear of the drop. He tweeted this following the defeat:

Can you name Huddersfield's last 15 top scorers?

The Verdict:

Huddersfield certainly have what it takes to avoid the drop but their inconsistency could see them sucked into the bottom-three.

A lot of teams in and around the relegation zone are beginning to pick up wins to claw their way to safety and it’s making for an exciting finale.

Chalobah has been a key part of Cowley’s plans this season and his influence in central midfield could be a huge factor in the Terriers staying up or not.

A home clash with Wigan Athletic at the weekend could prove vital in their push for survival by beating a direct rival.
