Aaron Mooy has completed a permanent transfer to Premier League Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 29-year-old initially joined the Seagulls on a season-long loan back in August and on Friday made that move permanent for an undisclosed transfer fee.

The midfielder has so far made 17 Premier League appearances for Brighton, scoring two goals and has clearly impressed Seagulls boss Graham Potter.

On making the move permanent, Potter told Brighton's media channels: "We are delighted to have agreed a permanent deal with Aaron and Huddersfield. He’s been an important player for us and will have a key part to play going forward."

Mooy arrived at Huddersfield back in 2016 on loan from Manchester City and played an integral role in Town's promotion to the Premier League.

Following an impressive first season in West Yorkshire, Mooy became the Terriers then record signing at an initial £8M fee plus contingencies that made the deal worth £10M.

The Australian would go on to make 65 Premier League appearances for the club, scoring seven goals in the top tier.

Following Town's relegation from the Premier League last season, Mooy signed a new deal with the club in August but was immediately loaned to Brighton.

Mooy has clearly impressed at the AMEX Stadium and his new deal with the Seagulls will run until summer 2023.

The Verdict

The 29-year-old has certainly impressed during his loan spell at the AMEX and this news won't really come as a surprise to Huddersfield fans.

Back when the Terriers were relegated, Mooy expressed his desire to have another try at the Premier League and his loan move to Albion was part of the deal of his new contract with Town.

Mooy has only missed seven games for the Seagulls so far this term and was on the score sheet for the club as they slumped to a 3-1 defeat to Bournemouth on Tuesday evening.

The Australian will no doubt be held in high esteem by Town fans but it appeared the two were ready to go their separate ways, with the club under the leadership of Danny Cowley.

Town fans will hope some of the money received in this deal will contribute to reinvesting into the squad, with the club already completing four transfers so far this window.
